THE MOUSE..."In creating my mouse I explored metaphors involving "bone and heart" mixed with the mouse’s propensity for storing things, with heart being your most sacred possession! I believe the work is best described by a quote from F. Scott Fitzgerald "No amount of fire or freshness can challenge what a man (or mouse) will store up in his ghostly heart."
THE ARTIST...Raised in the deserts of Northern New Mexico, Anna Sheffield’s work is rooted in themes of sacred space and the colors and textures of sand, desert flowers and unbroken sky. Well known for her marionette series, Anna loves to experiment with kinetics and the way in which the figures, when still, evoke the silence of the desert. Anna was trained at the Savannah College of Art in Georgia, and later received her BFA in sculpture from the Academy of Art in San Francisco.
